At City Kids Preschool, we don’t just educate children — we help them grow in faith, flourish in love, and become the people God created them to be.

Meet our teachers
I'm excited to begin another wonderful school year and get to know a new group of students! This is my 20th year teaching preschool, and it’s still such a joy—especially now that I’m teaching children of former students!
Though I have a degree in Elementary Education, I quickly found that preschool is where my heart belongs. Watching young children grow and learn is the best part of my job.
Outside of school, I’m married to my husband, Mark, and we have two grown children, Matt and Lauren. We’re empty nesters now, but we still enjoy monthly family dinners together.
I’m truly grateful to be part of your child’s early learning journey!

I live in the Columbia City area with my husband and our two boys. As a family, we love cheering on our sons in baseball and cross country, and spending time in the barn with our show pigs.
This is my fifth year teaching preschool, and I’m so excited for another year of building relationships with my students and their families! I especially enjoy singing songs, teaching Zoo Phonics, and making learning fun through hands-on play.
I feel so lucky to work with such a passionate, experienced team at City Kids Preschool — they inspire me and help me grow every day.

Hi! I’m Katie Smith — wife to Justin and mom to Marshall and Paisley. We love spending time outdoors as a family, whether it’s at baseball games, the zoo, or swimming together.
I graduated from Bethel College and taught for seven years, mostly in first grade. After taking time off to be home with my kids, I returned last year as an assistant in the Owl classroom. I’m honored to now step into the lead teacher role!
I’m thrilled to have a classroom of my own again and look forward to helping this new group of little learners grow and thrive.
